About This Game
THE NIGHTMARE IS HERE!
The zombies have taken over the world! Once it started it went quick and turned into a desperate struggle for survival. The streets are swarming with the undead and your only mission is to protect your family and lead them to safety.
Armed with your trusty crowbar, you must fight your way through the hordes, find safe houses, and survive long enough to escape. Do you have what it takes to lead your family to safety or will you become zombie food?
Survival depends on you!
CONTROLS
Master your movements to survive the streets.
- D-Pad: Move your character Up, Down, Left, or Right.
- A Button: Swing your Crowbar. Perfect for crushing zombie skulls!
- B Button: Use the Boombox.
- START: Start the game from the main menu.
- SELECT: (Not used in the heat of battle).
THE GAME SCREEN
Keep an eye on the top and bottom of the screen for vital information!
- SCORE: Your current points. You earn points for every defeated zombie.
- A: CROWBAR: Indicates your current weapon is the crowbar. Hold to break in to houses.
- B: BOOMBOX: Lights up when you have found a Boombox and it’s ready for use.
- MESSAGES: Watch for alerts like "BREAK IN!" (Enter the house) or "MOVE! -5" (You’ve stayed still too long!).
HOW TO PLAY
Your mission is to survive and protect your family. Here are the ground rules:
- Protect the Family! Your family follows your lead. Don’t let zombies get too close! If a family member is taken you only get half score for your kills.
- Break into Houses!: When a house appears and the text "BREAK IN!" is displayed, you must quickly reach the door to break it open and get your family to safety. A progress bar shows your status, don't give up!
- Don’t Stand Still! Zombies smell fear. If you stay stationary for too long, the message "MOVE! -5" will flash, and you will begin to lose points. Keep moving!
WEAPONS AND ITEMS
You won’t last long with bare hands. Use what you find!
- Crowbar: Your standard weapon. It has a short "cooldown" after each swing, so time your attacks carefully!
- Range Up: An upgrade that grants your crowbar longer reach. Extremely useful when surrounded. If you escape to the right of the screen, your Range Up is gone.
- Boombox: A rare and powerful item. Press the B button to activate it and clear out enemies in an emergency! Can you tell what heavy metal classic it’s playing?
ENEMIES
The city is full of dangers. Know your enemy!
- Zombies (Normal): Slow and dim-witted, but lethal in groups. Don't let them surround you.
- Zombies (Tough): Slower and dim-witteder, but also stronger. Needs a couple of hits to kill.
- DBL-Z (Boss): A massive, mutated nightmare! This boss zombie can take significantly more damage than regular enemies. When DBL-Z appears, its HP (Health) will be displayed on the screen. Swing your crowbar for dear life and dodge its attacks!
TIPS FROM RETEE RETRO
- Timing is Everything: Since the crowbar has a short recovery delay, you can't just mash the A button. Strike, step back, strike and strike again!
- Corners are Lethal: Don’t get backed into a corner. Stay toward the center where you have room to maneuver.
Aim for the High Score: When the game ends, you can enter your initials (3 letters) if you’ve set a new record. Compete against yourself and your friends!
